MESSAGE FROM THE TECHNICAL PROGRAM CHAIRS

Welcome to the 3rd International Conference on Information Technology: Research and Education. ITRE '05 provides an international forum for researchers, practitioners and students interested in new developments in Information Technology with specific focus on research and education. ITRE '05 is the third conference of this series and is sponsored by National Tsing Hua University, and co-sponsored by IEEE Communications Society and IEEE Computer Society Taipei Chapter. Like the past ITRE events, ITRE 2005 continues to be highly selective and very well perceived by the international research community, attracting excellent contributions and active participation. This year, a total of 149 papers from 24 countries were submitted in response to the open call, and 87 were accepted. Each paper was reviewed by the ITRE '05 Technical Program Committee members and select experts. We are very pleased with the quality of contributions.

The topics of the accepted papers cover a broad spectrum: research/education methodology, information networking, systems and applications, multimedia technology, human-computer interface, and information management. The ITRE '05 papers offer valuable solutions to many key problems in information technology. We would like to thank the ITRE '05 Technical Program Committee members and referees. Without their support, the creation of a very broad conference program would not have been possible. We thank each of every author for the contribution to the ITRE '05. We truly believe the final conference program consists of top quality contributions.

We are indebted to many individuals and organizations, especially Dr. Jia-Shung Wang, Director of Computer and Communication Research Center (CCRC), National Tsing Hua University.
